Synopsis: “1000 Miles to Nome” will take you on an emotional, gripping modern-day adventure, giving you a glimpse into the lives of those whose curiosity drove them to pack their belongings on a bike or in a sled and begin their own journey on an isolated trail through the heart of the Alaska Range to the Bering Sea and on to Nome on the famous Iditarod Trail.
This full-length movie attempts to not only describe the hardships faced in the 1000 mile Iditarod Trail Invitational, but also give you a better understanding of the Iditarod Trail itself, as well as some of the challenges faced by the dogs and their mushers as they seek to navigate through the same terrain during the same period of time.

Director's Statement
My goal in creating this film was to take the viewer along the Iditarod Trail through Alaska along with those tackling the month-long winter race on foot or bike. I had four participants carry a POV camera and wove that together with the footage I was able to capture as I bounced along the trail in a hand-built Piper Super Cub airplane. Filming in remote regions of Alaska was as much of an adventure as I’ve ever had!
Director's Bio
Dave has an extensive history as a professional sports and outdoor photographer. His first film, “Reach fo the Stars,” is a film about the 100 Mile Booneville Backroads Ultramarathon ignited a new passion passion; Filmmaking.
His second film “1000 Miles to Nome” is an account of the 1000 Mile Iditarod Trail Invitational is now accompanied by a short film, Down the Kuskokwim, which is about the 350-mile version of the same race through Alaska.
