Synopsis: In 1966 a high ranking Soviet officer suddenly escapes from Kiev, Ukraine to Chicago with his wife and child. However, over the years he secretly manages to maintain control of a small fortune in his home country of Ukraine. Upon his death in 2019, he exits this world as an estranged grandfather to a lone young woman, Sasha, his only remaining family to which his entire estate is bequeathed.

Sasha has had no contact with her grandfather since her mother’s death many years ago, the inheritance comes as quite a surprise. But in order to claim the estate she must travel to Kiev to sign transfer papers. Her husband Peter accompanies her on the journey for support but an ulterior motive lurks.

Upon arrival at the original family home in Kiev they are pleasantly surprised at the grandfather’s wealth. But the first night in the home brings a sleepless night along with strange noises in an upstairs room. Sasha begins to investigate and quickly learns that they are not alone and that there is more to this old house than meets the eye.

While Peter works with the local lawyer to sort out the business details of the estate transfer he leaves Sasha alone with her industriousness to sort out the strange happenings. Facing her fears as the paranormal occurrences in the home intensify, the dark secrets lurking in her family history must be dealt with. And the deeper she delves into the secrets the home possesses the more horrifying the answers become.

Director's Bio

Chad Barager began his film career apprenticing under veteran Hollywood producers Mark Stern (Former President of SyFy Channel and Syfy Films) and Grant Rosenberg (former President of Paramount Television). After a five-year stretch working in production on various big budget studio films, Chad branched out on his own and continued his pursuit of filmmaking. The first full length film produced under his newly created Firepower Entertainment Company banner was the award winning Spanish film, “Fabula”. The film premiered in the U.S. at the prestigious Chicago International Film Festival and quickly sold around the world. He then went on to produce the horror film “The Woods”; followed by the multi-award winning marijuana cop thriller “Dark Harvest” starring Cheech Marin. He then ventured overseas to produce the $20 million epic drama “Bitter Harvest” starring Max Irons, Barry Pepper and Terence Stamp, filmed in Ukraine and the UK. Chad then headed back to South America to produce his second Spanish language film “La Palabras de Pablo”, distributed domestically by HBO and internationally by Sony Pictures. ‘Pablo’ participated in multiple international festivals, including the Chicago Film Festival, New York HBO Latino Film Festival and the American Film Institute in Washington D.C., to name but a few. In January 2020 Chad completed his directorial debut with the mystery horror thriller “The Inheritance”.
