Synopsis: This is an adaptation of the famous Ambrose Bierce novel “An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge”. We give new context to the original story. While in the original novel there is no emotional connection between the lead character and the reader, this movie has a captivating and charismatic female lead, who is trying to repair the sins of her father, a war criminal, by saving Jewish children from certain death. During the Holocaust thousands of Hungarian Jews were executed by the Danube. This tragedy brought out the worst in some people, but also the best in others. A brave few rose up to resist. The film honors these heroes.

Founder and Managing Director of the Budapest Film Academy, Jeno Hodi, is an American-Hungarian, multiple award-winning director, writer and producer. He studied at one of the most renowned universities in the US, Columbia University, earning his Master’s Film Degree in classes taught by Milos Forman, Brian De Palma, Frank Daniel, John Avildsen and Dusan Makavejev. He was the first student in Columbia University’s history to write, direct and produce a 35mm feature length film while studying in its graduate film program.
Throughout his career, Jeno’s role as a filmmaker has extended into all areas of production. Apart from selling nearly twenty screenplays, he has directed and produced several feature films, a variety of commercials, television pilots, and stage plays.
As a filmmaker, he is proud of the fact that most actors he has worked with consider him an “actor’s director.” He has had years of training with some of the world’s finest acting teachers, including Milton Katselas and Stella Adler. He is also a member of the writers/directors unit of the Actor’s Studio. Jeno’s last film, ‘Metamorphosis’, won three major awards.
Upon his return to Hungary, Jeno realized that there is a real need for a film academy which teaches the study of film as a business, and gives international, comprehensive training of the entire film profession. Hence, he founded the Budapest Film Academy and created a joint program with the internationally well-established Hungarian Eötvös Loránd University.

The collaboration between Jeno’s Budapest Film Academy and Eötvös Loránd University became very successful, semester by semester more and more Hungarian and international students sign up and graduate as young filmmakers. In 2016 the Budapest Film Academy signed a contract with Loyola Marymount University and became the study abroad provider for one of the best US film universities.

Since 2016 US students join regularly to the film academy’s study abroad program. They are accompanied with a writer/professor from Loyola Marymount University who teaches screenwriting courses at the Budapest Film Academy.

Budapest Film Academy has designed a curriculum that provides extensive cross platform education training in all the major fields of filmmaking. In these varied courses, students receive a theoretical and a hands-on education at the same time. They obtain practical skills in screenwriting, cinematography, directing, creative producing, editing, sound recording, and more. Students wrote, produced, directed and shot short films which so far won several prestigious international film festival awards.

In 2020 he wrote, directed and produced a short film ‘Legacy’, which has so far won awards at over two dozens of film festivals, and in addition to that, it was in the final competition in another dozen festivals.

In 2021 Jeno established his own international film festival along with Loyola Marymount University, Eötvös Loránd University and Budapest Film Academy — Budapest Film Awards (www.budapestfilmawards.com).
