Director's Bio
Edwin FrankO (Edwin Frank Ortiz) is a Latino film director of Puerto Rican and Mexican descent hailing from Barrio Logan of Southeast San Diego. He graduated from USC’s School of Cinematic Arts with an emphasis in directing. FrankO began his artistic journey as a hip hop dancer.
Edwin is known for dancing and acting as Angel Gabriel in Teatro Máscara Mágica’s La Pastorela. Though his late father was a salsa musician and dancer, Edwin was self taught, and learned to break dance by studying music videos and films. He eventually delved into acting and studied theatre at Southwestern Community College before switching his major to film. The crossover to film was more so to network with other filmmakers before becoming one himself. His passion and ambition led him to the University of Southern California where he would be the first in his family to not only achieve a B.A. but attend a university.
Edwin would love to thank anyone who continues to support his ambition including his mother. He is at where he is today because of their love and support. He wants to continue to guide and inspire his community who haven’t yet discovered the opportunities that arise from following their passions and ambitions.
