Director's Bio

Beatrice Bulteau
was born in Sancerre, France, in 1959.
She grew up in the Loire countryside, south of Paris.

She began drawing horses when she was 4 years old, and later discovered watercolors on a trip to Ireland in 1976, as a self-taught painter.

Her first art show was in Paris at the age of 17. She moved to Portugal in 1980, where she worked as a news illustrator on Portuguese TV. At the same time, she began a series of studies with horses and movement.

From 1985 until 1995, she did art shows in 25 different states of the USA, as well as Japan and Canada. Since then, she’s extended her shows to South America, the Middle East, and most of Europe, which granted her world recognition as both a watercolorist and a specialist in impressionistic equine art.

In 1992, she began her work with ceramics and porcelain in Portugal, as well as with limestone lithography in Paris, which would later transition to modern lithography. In 1999, she started applying her work to tapestry.

Two art books of her work have been published, with a third on the way, all of which feature poetry by authors inspired by her style.

Her production of fine art is ongoing, to which she has added the ability to create digital hybrids from base drawings into designs since 2004.

She entered the world of animation in 2010, by experimenting with china ink drawings. Her short film En Lusitanie, shown at the 2014 Equine Film Festival, was the first submitted to a competition, featuring both animated drawings and watercolors. It won Best Artistic Film.

As an illustrator and animator, she joined Suzanne Kopp-Moskow as co-producer in Li’l Herc Productions LLC in 2015, creating children’s books and media.

Recently, she has been exclusively invited by Intelligence Diamonds to create designs in the style of her drawings with diamonds and other precious stones. This unique approach allows for a new style of equine portraiture.
