I like strong female characters. If for some reason they get pushed down physically or emotionally, they need to get back up again. The main character in this film is by herself and she needs help but she’s not going to hide in a corner and wait. She’s going to do whatever she can to keep herself safe.

An energetic, forward-thinking storyteller, Roxanne Marciniak believes in happy endings for powerful women. Raised by an independent working mother, Marciniak writes, produces, and directs films depicting strong female leads in realistic situations, from dysfunctional dating to home invasion. Her characters navigate life on their own terms, using intuition and intelligence. Fueled by eternal optimism, Marciniak prefers a happy ending. This can play out in many forms from comedic to prevailing justice…ending on a high note is her kind of movie. She believes the audience should leave the theater feeling complete.

Before L.A., Roxanne Marciniak was the Manager of Public Relations at the Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua on Maui. Marciniak planned and promoted hotel events. As the Executive Assistant to the EP for the Oprah Winfrey Show, she learned how media can promote empathy: a priority demonstrated in her screenwriting. Marciniak’s short film “The Three Bobs” (ShortsTV, Studio City Film Festival, Golden State Film Festival, Independent Shorts Awards Winner-Best Comedy) explores the trials of dating, with crisp realism and comedy. Her short film thriller “Non-Emergency” (ShortsTV, Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival, Lady Filmmakers Festival Winner-Best Halloween Teaser Short) follows a woman-turned-action-hero during a break-in.

In 2020, Marciniak founded, directed and produced the first annual Rock the Shorts Film Festival to acknowledge and celebrate independent filmmakers and their passion for short films.
