Synopsis: After a happenstance meeting, Tristan and Isaac fall deeply in love, developing a seemingly impermeable romance. As they try to navigate their strong feelings for each other amid harsh truths, consequences arise. This film explores and speaks on the distracted states we often find ourselves in these days – texting while driving, texting when with our lovers, and letting love itself distract us from our own realities. Loosely inspired by the classic love tragedy “Tristan and Isolde,” this poetic short endeavors to capture the magical feeling of being swept up in a consuming romance against the backdrop of our modern texting-driven society.

Director's Statement

With this project, I wanted to apply my love of classic Hollywood romance dramas to the telling of a story that comments on how our modern tech-driven world often leaves us distracted, disconnected, and removed. I wanted to capture the feeling of being in a bubble, both while caught up in a romance, and when we have our heads buried in our devices, as either situation can encourage a distorted view of reality.

It was my delight to shoot this project on 16mm, which I found created a heightened sense of intimacy as well as giving the film that classic romance aesthetic. As the director, writer, producer, editor and star, this project was an incredible challenge, but really proved to be a wonderful growing experience with some hard-learned lessons on the way. Ultimately, I’m very proud of what our team was able to accomplish, and I hope you enjoy it.
