Arriving in Blue

Synopsis: Shaking in your chair after your first cup of coffee because it’s the only thing you had to look forward to that day. Jamming to music that you should have been listening to with friends. Slipping off your chair feels like slipping off the edge of a cliff, except inside you aren’t dead, just surrendering to this reality.
In this dance film we explore anxious isolation within the mover’s connection to her apartment. Flashes of outside fantasy instill a sense of dream-like desire. Her body craves something. We feel a wink of her longing as she slides down a door frame and smiles; imagining. Then music fills our ears, and these indoor and outdoor women say hello. Two realities blur together—both halfs yearn for the other. In the end, we are left guessing which side of the door she is on.

Director's Statement
I strive to blend my passions for film and photography with the dance and performance art community to create professional work. I am constantly studying movement and reflect on youthfulness, the limits of the body and the emotional and physical potential of our flesh. I want to investigate, ingest, and ask questions without the intention of finding answers. I seek infinite research through my work, even the unconventional.
