Director's Statement
I created “Contain” to spread the arts in a barren time and to give dancers safe, CDC-compliant, and meaningful work in a reality where their livelihood was put indefinitely on hold. I wanted to create something honest, and the pandemic was currently at the front of everyone’s minds. Based on my own experiences and the personal accounts of others, I created this thirty minute work to demonstrate how the effects of the pandemic could feel personally, socially, in intimate relationships, and as a community. It is my hope that “Contain” can allow viewers to understand and heal from their experiences that they may not have fully understood before watching.
