The doors are closed. There are no more screenings of this film.
Synopsis: Infamous New York City talent agent, Yvette Slosch (LINDA LAVIN), is determined to make a star out of her newest client, jazz violinist, Aaron Weinstein (HIMSELF). She refuses to let Aaron’s lack of name recognition, jazz’s dwindling fan base, or the 2020 global pandemic get in her way. As the pandemic rages, Yvette’s schemes to keep Aaron’s career afloat become increasingly convoluted, testing her abilities as an agent and her friendship with Aaron.

Director's Statement
During the early days of the pandemic, when New York City was the epicenter of the virus, the actress Linda Lavin, with whom I perform in concert, called me and said, “I want you to write me something.” When I asked if she had an idea of what she’d like me to write, without missing a beat, she said, “I want to play your Yenta agent”. Shortly thereafter, Yvette Slosch was born.
Each week for the next three months, I wrote a scene between Yvette and her client, me (a Jazz violinist), inspired by the current events and mood of the moment. Linda and I would film the new scene while sheltering in place in our separate apartments. She would film her part first, sending me each take “hot off the press”. Her takes were then edited into a complete performance that I would rehearse with so I could perform my part in a way that seemed as though we were talking to each other in real time.
The result is, CALL ME BACK: THE UNCOMMON WISDOM OF YVETTE SLOSCH—a film about the pandemic, created during the pandemic.
In my own life, humor has been a wonderfully effective way to survive challenges. My hope is this film shows how humor can be found, even during a time as dark as the 2020 Global pandemic.
