Synopsis: “Be Inspired” is based on the famous painting “Mt. Lefroy” by Group of Seven Canadian artist Lawren Harris. It is the animated story of renowned Canadian para-athlete Peter Eager, ice climbing, rock climbing, and hiking Lefroy in Lake Louise. The character has to face the many challenges of this mountain, which was the scene of the first fatal tragedy in Canadian alpine climbing history. All of the music is performed by voices, a cappella, composed by Aaron Jensen. Special guest artist Colin Mochrie voices the character in the backpack.

Director's Statement

‘Be Inspired’ features the work and creative talent of some of Canada’s top talent in art, vocals, comedy and adventure. Starting with a hike pursued by many who visit Lake Louise, two young girls imagine what may be going on behind the scenes in one of Canada’s favourite paintings as they visit The McMichael Gallery in Kleinburg. This film was produced for all those who are pursuing a dream. Every song starts with one note, every painting with one stroke and every adventure with one step.

Director's Bio

Mark Northwood – Mark has been a climber, animation lover and lover of Canadian landscape design his whole life. He had the good fortune to meet and work with the team that allowed this project to come to life after many years as a growing idea. As a first time short film-maker, he is excited by the idea of the next project.

Bekky O’Neil – Bekky O’Neil is a multidisciplinary artist, animator, writer & director based in Northumberland County, Ontario. She is a graduate of the Interdisciplinary Masters in Art, Media & Design at OCAD University with a focus on Animated Documentary and Sustainable Agriculture, and holds a BFA in Playwrighting and a second BFA in Film Animation from Concordia University. Bekky is the co-founder of Cardboard Reality Farm & Studio where she collaborates with her partner on making films and growing flowers. She is a part time Professor of Media Studies at Loyalist College in Belleville. Her films have played and garnered awards at festivals around the world. Her work has been funded by the Canada Council for the Arts & The Ontario Arts Council.
