Synopsis: Centered largely on the memories of Curb, a man facing a life sentence for his time in organized crime, TRAP follows the loosely interconnected stories of several characters caught in their city’s eternal cycle of chaos, violence, doom, and despair. A gang of violent street kids, two sister thieves, and a crooked mob boss dwell beneath the dark cloud hanging over The Real Asbury Park. Detective Bronson, a gambling, alcohol, and drug addicted cop is hell bent on finding and arresting Curb. Since the Asbury Park Riots of 1970, the once decayed cities turmoil is split between the tracks that separates the East on the verge of a rebirth & underground of the West Side of town.

Director's Statement

I wrote TRAP when I was 16, but I let the film find itself over five years of production. It constantly morphed as the real-life characters evolved before my eyes.

The film mimics a drug experience in hopes of pushing past the simple articulations of linear narrative. In TRAP, the narrative is liquid and time is free. I prioritize emotion and mood over plot. The narrative isn’t traditional and the movie moves like poetry — trap poetry. I believe that movies should be, to some extent, undefinable. In this film I show the lowest depths of urban culture — from the inside-out, not the outside-in.

Director's Bio

Anthony Edward Curry is a NYC based Film Director. His films are about the lowest depths of street life. Working within the landscape of brutally honest non-fiction, Anthony upholds a bold cinematic vision with a vested interest in the dichotomy of a human soul. Born and raised in Asbury Park, NJ, Anthony is known to take his own experiences and reflect them back into his work. With TRAP in particular, the film was shot during a period of time in which Anthony was called as the key witness in a highly publicized murder trial.

He’s acted and worked on award winning tv/films 100 Acres of Hell which was released by Lionsgate, THE IRISHMAN, CUT SHOOT KILL, UNSOLVED MYSTERIES released on NETFLIX, and “PAINT” which won Best Picture at the DWF Film Festival.
