Synopsis: Baking Cookies is a story of love, forgiveness and redemption. On the eve of their mother’s funeral, two sisters grapple with memories of their childhood. Was their mother a witch or a kind-hearted soul…or both. This film examines the complexities of the three main characters and the ability to forgive and love again. Based on a true story, Jeannie and her sister, Maggie, remember two different mothers. Maggie was able to understand the complexities and challenges of her mother trying to raise a large family under difficult conditions during the 1960s. Jeannie cannot get beyond the hurt her mother inflicted on her. The day of the funeral, Jeannie and Maggie come together and confront the humanity and complexity of their mother.

This story of sisterly love was a challenge in trying to show the complexities of each character. It is a beautiful love story.
