Director's Statement
For as long as I can remember, I would sit for hours watching
people and moments that pass in front of me as I tell myself stories about them.
There is something so powerful in the feeling of “voyeurism”,
to see and not to be revealed.
The year I filmed the movie “Balcony”, I first noticed how sensitive I was to what I call the “terrible days” – National Mourning Week.
I suffered from extreme mood swings along with a lot of frustration
with the Israeli spirit and the values I was educated on in contrast to what is happening today.
This feeling in addition to the breakup I had with my partner at the time
gave me the courage to tell my story and turn it into a movie.
