Synopsis: This panel discusses the hardships and personal trauma that takes place when whistleblowers are wearing the military uniforms of the US Armed Forces and report wrongdoing.

Director's Bio

Jacqueline Garrick, LCSW-C, BCETS, SHRM-CP, WPA Executive Director, FAR Group (SDVOSB) Founder, Whistleblowers of America

A social worker by background, Jacqueline Garrick entered the policy and program management realm upon her discharge from the US Army where she had specialized in posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) recovery and transition assistance services. She has used her clinical experiences to improve quality of life programs and benefits for veterans, their families, and government employees throughout her career.

She has served in executive positions at the American Legion and the Departments of Veterans Affairs (VA) and Defense (DoD) and with the House Committee on Veterans Affairs. Her areas of expertise include policy and program development for disabled veterans/wounded warriors, mental health and suicide prevention, transition assistance, and military survivors. She is known for her work on organizational and professional development, coupled with resilience and wellness approaches in the workplace. She is a recognized public servant advocate with awards from several distinguished organizations. She is the founder of the FAR Group, which provides consultation to public and private organizations that need development, advocacy, and educational support and Whistleblowers of America (, which provides voluntary peer support to those suffering the impacts of Workplace Traumatic Stress and failure to thrive in the workplace. She developed the Whistleblower Retaliation Checklist© to identify negative psychosocial impacts on employees. She is a published authored, media source and international public speaker. She has worked on projects in the former Soviet Union, for the military in Germany and Afghanistan and the World Health Organization in Switzerland.

She is a social work master’s graduate from Temple University with additional training at Johns Hopkins and the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. She is a licensed social worker (LCSW-C) in MD and is credentialed through the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM-CP) and a Board Certified Expert in Traumatic Stress (BCETS) and a Whistleblower Protection Advocate (WPA).
