Synopsis: Ten-year-old Ari Stevens is racing her bike at the lake when she notices a woman, Jenny Strappel, readying a boat. Jenny sets a stopwatch, races to the middle of the lake, and stops, tormented by the results. Together, they forge a friendship and learn to let go of the past.

Director's Statement
Hurricane is an uplifting story about overcoming life’s challenges. The story explores what happens when we regret so profoundly that we can’t move, and friendship is the vehicle that helps the characters drive past that dangerous stuckness. As is true with many of my films, Hurricane focuses on childhood and the imagination. – JLee MacKenzie
Director's Bio
JLee MacKenzie is an independent filmmaker, animator and wood-scroll artist completing his Master of Fine Arts Degree at USC School of Cinematic Arts on a George Lucas Scholarship. He’s a two time recipient of the Jeffrey Jones Writing Scholarship, and holds a BFA in Creative Media from Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont. His films have been selected by film festivals across the US and internationally including Tribeca Film Festival, The American Pavilion Emerging Filmmaker Showcase at Cannes Film Festival and Santa Barbara International Film Festival.
