About Adventure Scientists

We enable informed conservation decisions by supplying partners with difficult to obtain data, grassroots support, and outreach by leveraging the unique skills of the adventure community.

Special Ops for Conservation

Adventure Scientists is a 501 (c)3 organization based in Bozeman, Montana.

Since our founding in 2011, Adventure Scientists has sent thousands of specialized adventurers on missions to collect data from remote, difficult-to-access locations for our conservation partners. These partnerships have led to the discovery of more than two dozen new species, provided key information to guide climate change decision-making, and helped protect threatened wildlife habitat around the world.

Our work has been featured in more than 100 media outlets, and our volunteer adventurers are making a difference around the world.

Not Your Typical Citizen Science

Citizen science is one of the most rapidly growing fields within the scientific community. However, the focus in these volunteer driven research efforts is often solely on the education of the volunteer.

Adventure Scientists exists to provide our partners the data they need to make informed decisions. Our emphasis is on recruiting individuals who have the necessary skills to plan and execute successful expeditions, because these skills are transferable to successful scientific data collection. The same attention to detail, ability to creatively problem solve, and wherewithal to persevere in difficult environments ensures success in both fields.

We are a capacity building service, building projects from the ground up. With each new project, we address our partners’ specific needs and provide the data needed to inform species and habitat management.

We recruit, train and manage skilled volunteers, saving our partners time, money and effort.
