Is this a Film Festival Flix Channel a Festival or Distribution?

Each channel is a curated extension of a film festival, media outlet, or niche distributor. The channels are online giving a broader audience the opportunity to see your film, but it is still limited to viewing on the festival channel for a limited time to pass holders only. By submitting, you’re granting only a festival right of exhibition per the terms and conditions of the festival submission. If you win a category you will receive a distribution offer from MouseTrap Films, LLC or affiliated distributors which you’re free to accept or reject. Some channels feature distributor only content. You may or may not have the ability to submit to those channels, and inclusion is only upon license by the affiliated distributors.

Will participating in an online film festival affect distribution deals?

If your film is in a position to be effected by participating, you’d already be aware of such conflicts and restrictions through the sales agent, distributor, or platform with whom you’re working. Participation in these festival channels is the gateway for distribution through Film Festival Flix, MouseTrap Films, and affiliated distributors. If you win a category, you’re guaranteed an offer. The distributor’s acquisition team may make distribution offers to other stand out films within the festival channels. Each channel is uniquely different. Terms and Conditions for each channel are detailed within the submission forms.

Being online, can my film be viewed by anyone, like on YouTube?

No. Your film is not viewable to the general public like it would be on YouTube or Vimeo (public). Your film is only available to festival pass holders during the competition period. Some channels are discoverable through the Film Festival Flix website menu options. Others are only shared by a festival with their pass holders.

Does my film have to be new?

Great films do not go out of style. They just get lost in the overwhelming volume of content today. Please submit any film you want to showcase, regardless of age.

My film has already been sold for distribution? Can I still submit?

If you have sold the digital rights to your film to a distributor, you should clear the submission with them and they should be listed as the licensor for the festival. Following the festival, should distribution be offered on Film Festival Flix, your distributor would be the licensor.

I’ve sold certain territories, but not all?

Each festival channel is offered differently from worldwide to the United States only. We have the ability to geo-block specific territories. You can gain the permission of all the distributors you’ve sold to, and any revenue sharing can be shared appropriately, or you could notify us of which territories are to be excluded from viewing to avoid conflicts. The best way to proceed is to list only those available territories which you control.
