Synopsis: An NYC musician, on a ‘trip’ to fully understand herself, chooses to embrace her other ‘HALF’- her dark side – by personifying her shadow self and engaging with her inner demons in an edgy and surreal setting.

///HALF is a modern psychedelic, psychological, multimedia, visual feast featuring anthemic industrial rock songs with messages of existential themes, horror, sexuality and female empowerment.

This visual album is ‘half’ of the concept record, THE VILLAINESS by Militia Vox- in album order. All music, lyrics, video art, direction, performance, funding and production created by the artist herself- the ONLY artist to ever do so- DIY to the extreme!

This film also incorporates 2nd screen technology- lyric videos to be watched in real time along with the film on your phone, tablet or laptop. [Copy + paste link here: http://www.militiavox.com/immersive]

Director's Statement

My best efforts are geared towards inclusion and representation, to widen public perception of women of color. My mission is to demonstrate that color does not dictate behavior. There is a spectrum of types, voices and stories that exist in this world and they are radiant, important, universal and human.

I am the change I want to see and I will incessantly make interesting, intense and badass art, by any and all means necessary.

You won’t be bored, I promise.

Director's Bio

MILITIA VOX has no regard for genre, gender roles or stereotypes. A truly modern multi-hyphenate artist with a DIY ethos; this black cat has had many lives and has always broken boundaries.

Her most recent original works are connected via her ongoing project, THE VILLAINESS- a multimedia project that presents the unique perspective of an alternative female of color that embraces her “shadow self” and inner demons for self-discovery. THE VILLAINESS is a critically acclaimed full-length album and is being released in sections as a visual album and immersive art installation. Her unique voice, musical perspective and style have also garnered her praise from the music media and legends such as Dee Snider, Corey Glover, Kembra Pfahler and Kathleen Hanna.

Militia was the 1st Host/VJ of color on Fuse / Much Music USA, and hosted Fuse’s 1st reality tv show “Heavy Metal Makeover.” M has also Hosted and appeared on MTV2 and Vh1 and featured on Global TV (Canada.)
