Director's Statement
All of my work explores themes of desire, fantasy and obsession. From writing a sex blog, to stand up and Moth-style storytelling events, to the films and theatre I create, these themes are ever present in my work. In my career, I have had my fair share of high expectations and low disappointments. With Meryl Fuckin Streep, I asked myself, what if I got everything I ever wanted as an artist (money, validation, the opportunity to work with Meryl Streep), but it came at an unimaginable cost? As someone who considers herself to have integrity, what would it take for me to sell my soul? I knew I wanted to make a film with Barbies, and from there the surrealistic vision was born.
