Synopsis: Are pro climbers anything like you and me? Do they ever put lots of effort into training only to fail miserably at a comp and question why they bother at all, or is it all glory and sending? Project Mina is a look at the moments between the top-outs and success, following Mina Leslie-Wujastyk during the 2013 competition season.

Director's Statement

Sometime towards the end of 2012, rock climber Mina Leslie-Wujastyk agreed to make a documentary with me. During January 2013, I set out on this project to try and understand what it takes to become a professional athlete, to turn your passion into your career. I realise now this was silly. There is no answer, no formula for making ‘it’ happen. Just like you or me, every athlete is on their own specific and unique path, and this is Mina’s.

Director's Bio

Light Shed Pictures is an innovative film and photography company based in Glasgow, Scotland, offering a variety of services from inquisitive and lively short films, to writing and shooting articles for magazines, to running film workshops for young people.

Run by myself – Jen Randall – a dedicated, energetic and original approach to my work gained me first class honours in Time Based Art at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design and a post-graduate diploma with honours in Film Production at Vancouver Film School, as well as exhibitions at D&AD and the National Review of Live Art and awards from the Royal Television Society and Edinburgh Mountain Film Festival.

The distinctly fresh, accessible, homespun style of my work has since attracted a range of clients, from Channel 4’s 4Talent to adventure filmmakers Posing Productions. Light Shed Pictures’ aim is to create work with an honesty, simplicity, curiosity and quiet humour that comes from the heart, putting a new twist on established ideas.

I am available for film projects, photography commissions, editing services, articles, film workshops and more…
