Scotland Coast to Coast
Synopsis: Starting off in Aberdeen and following the new Deeside Way to Aboyne we climb Scotland’s most eastern Munro, Mount Keen, and discover some of the secrets of lovely Glen Tanar. By way of Loch Muick and the royal lands of Balmoral we cross the ancient Mounth road to drop into Glen Callater and the road to Braemer. A long day through the historic Lairig Ghru brings us to Aviemore and the story behind Scotland’s premier outdoor resort. Beyond Speyside another mountain range is crossed as we tackle the Corrieyairack pass to Fort Augustas and the Caledonian Canal. From here we follow the canal to Glen Garry where forest tracks carry us to lonely Glen Kingie and another high pass to Glen Dessary, and downhill to the sea at Sourlies. From Barrisdale Bay before descending to the Mam Barrisdale and the track to journey’s end at Inverie on Loch Nevis, home of The Forge, Britain’s most remote pub. A perfect finish to a fascinating Scottish coast to coast trek.
