Synopsis: “Faces” is a piece about the universality of a personal tragedy. It is about the anxieties that we are all going through in these uncertain times, and how escapism has become our saving grace. And how do we all escape? Through our dreams.

Director's Statement
The film was originally conceived for David Deblinger’s performance project “Acts Of Love: Dreamscape” at HB Studio in New York City, which serves as an opportunity for international theater artists to create original work. I was interested in devising a movement based short film inspired by a piece of text. I asked the incredibly talented writer/performer Khalif J. Gillett to write a poem about “dreaming away”, getting out, but also about love and connection. I used his moving and beautifully written work to come up with the storyline and the different scenes for this film. I was working with a group of young actors and I wanted to visualize the wealth of images and ideas in Khalif’s message of “we’re all in this together -alone” by devising a movement based on camera piece. Each performer represents a specific chapter in the search of escape. During these tragic and uncertain times, I wish to inspire hope and a sense of connection and unity in my audience.
