Lady Hunters
Synopsis: Three best friends, on a moms’ weekend retreat to the Adirondacks, learn a heinous gang rapist has been released from prison nearby. Incensed by the atrocious nature of the crime against a teenaged girl, and incarceration of only one of the perpetrators, the women find themselves novice killers and arbiters of justice.

Director's Statement
Lady Hunters began as a conversation between my great friend Lara Buck Antolik (co-star & co-executive producer) and I when the news about Bill Cosby first came out. That game-changing weekend, we found ourselves fantasizing ways we’d punish rapists if we had the opportunity, usually with rather violent results that had us rolling with laughter at the same time. It was extremely therapeutic! Our three co-stars are all graduates of the William Esper Studio. Thanks to the Panavision New Filmmaker Grant and my terrific DP Lauretta Prevost (this was our fourth project together), we were able to tell a story that’s been a very long time coming, with remarkable equipment, stunning footage, and beautiful performances by a truly ensemble cast.

Quotes
"This project promises great action and a space to laugh at the world’s absurdity. More importantly, though, its protagonists speak to the very real situation in which many of us now find ourselves: first-time, ordinary people who must step up, speak out, and take action.” - Kelsey Moore, Women and Hollywood
“Blunt and meaningful, Lady Hunters delivers a powerful punch … a favorite among a stellar lineup of female filmmaking talent.” - Claire L. Smith, Morbidly Beautiful
“The best short of the lot, in my opinion, is Lady Hunters.” - Chloé Harper Gold, Nightmarish Conjurings
“The whole film unfolds with the sort of cadence and sleekness that only comes with a truly adept and skillful director guiding the story and performances, and Atwood’s precision is without exception on display here.” - Mike Madigan, Detroit Shetown Film Festival
