Tournament captures a slice of life inside of a typical game shop. We wanted to share the essence of dedicated gamers and their relationships to the shop, the game they play and the fellow gamers as well as outsiders. Through this process we discovered how game shops serve as a cultural center for so many and an escape outlet from their every day lives. Some people fit in and others don’t and it fascinates me as to how the group does and doesn’t police itself when it comes to bullying and bad behavior. We enjoyed creating several homages to famous “Face Offs” in games & movies that we hope you’ll recognize while capturing the beauty, comedy and drama of life in a game shop playing table top games. Whether you play board games, poker and other card games, or sports you should be able to relate to the quirky dynamics of a diverse group of players playing to win!
