Cindy Miller – Festival Producer
Cindy is an independent producer, line producer and production manager for the film, television and commercial industry. She is the producer of the Sundance Award winning feature documentary, DIVINE TRASH, about the early work of Baltimore filmmaker John Waters, and the follow up film, IN BAD TASTE for the Independent Film Channel & Bravo. In addition she has produced dozens of national commercials from Gummy Bears to Adidas. Her television credits include Homicide: Life on the Street, America’s Most Wanted, Mastermind and Split Screen to name a few. Before turning to the production side, Cindy was a SAG/AFTRA actor working on many films shot in DC & Baltimore. From 2006 to 2010, Cindy was the Festival Producer for the AFI/Discovery Channel SILVERDOCS Film Festival. She has served on the board of the Maryland Chapter of Women In Film & Video and is a member of the Producers Guild of America. This will be Cindy’s third year producing the Annapolis Film Festival.
Ashley Deckman – Associate Programmer
Ashley Deckman is an East Coast-based filmmaker. She entered the film industry in 2014 as an intern for FILMSTERS, a production company in her hometown of Annapolis, MD. From there she quickly worked her way up to Associate Producer on two hit TLC reality television shows. Since moving to NYC in 2015 to pursue her MFA at Tisch School of the Arts, Ashley has produced over 12 short films, a web series, and won the 2018 Media Service Award for Producing. Ashley loves working with like-minded creatives who share her same passion for storytelling. In year three of the film festival, Ashley was the Production Coordinator, last year she was the Festival Manager and this year returns to AFF as our Associate Programmer
Joe Barsin – Art Director
During his formative years, Joe lived in Genoa, Italy. The later years of his youth were spent growing-up in Akron, Ohio. He studied graphic design at Kent State University, ultimately earning his BFA then began his career as an art director in Baltimore, Maryland. Joe and his wife, Eva, kept busy for the past 20+ years running their own business, JEB Design, Inc. (link: https://www.jebdesign.com). In 2013, the couple launched Citizen Pride (link: https://citizenpride.com) to celebrate Mid-Atlantic (or Maryland) pride through creative products. Joe’s passion for history, culture and community is reflected in his illustrations, which are featured on Citizen Pride products that range from flags, prints, canvas art, wooden signs, stickers and more. He is inspired by the icons and landmarks that stir the sense of local pride for your hometown. Being a Scout leader of his two boy’s troop allows him plenty of time out in nature. He also loves film, music, reading sci-fi and won’t likely turn down a good, hoppy brew. Joe has been with the film festival since its inception.
Katie Shinasto – Content Manager
Katie was born and raised in Baltimore and has degree in Electronic Media and Film from Towson University. She has been freelancing in the film industry since 2009 and has worked on a variety of shoots, assuming different positions from art director to coordinator to script supervisor. Katie has a passion for working as a script supervisor on independent films made in Maryland. Credits include “The Night Watchmen”, “Flimsy Company”, “Fishbowl”, “Sollers Point” and most recently “Union Bridge” which was filmed last year in Carroll County. Katie is excited to be returning for her third year with the festival.
Kaitlyn Ryan – Box Office and Customer Service Manager
Kaitlyn is a Biloxi, Mississippi native who travels year-round working in operations and management for various film festivals in the United States. Her most notable festivals include: Palm Springs International Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival, Seattle International Film Festival, and Mill Valley Film Festival. Kaitlyn’s passion for film lies within the realm of managing the operations and logistics of non-profit film festivals to provide an inclusive platform for emerging voices, creativity, and networking within the independent film industry. This will be Kaitlyn’s second year managing the Box Office and Customer Service for Annapolis Film Festival.
Derek Horne – Director of Programming
Derek Horne has been working in programming for 20 years, including film festivals coast to coast from Newport (RI) to Newport Beach (CA). Currently, Derek is the Director of Programming for the Annapolis Film Festival in the Spring and the Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival in the Fall. Derek worked in the Filmmaker Services Department at the Sundance Film Festival for six years and was the Film Coordinator at Chapman University’s film school for ten years handling the distribution of thousands of student films and promoting the careers of many talented emerging artists. Derek was the founding editor of Kodak’s student filmmaking magazine and has written articles for their “In Production, On Campus” newsmagazine as well as IndieWire.
Chellie – Schou
Chellie is a 2015 graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder with a degree in media and film. Originally from Annapolis, she interned as a PA with Filmsters on the documentary feature film, Great Big Baby, shot in New York. Following that, she taught at Filmsters Academy, a summer film camp for kids ages 11-18. She relocated that fall to Los Angeles where she began working as a professional PA on multiple productions. Two years ago she was hired on the CW show All American and has since been promoted to Assistant Production Office Coordinator for the series, now in its second season. Chellie has worked at The Annapolis Film Festival as an Intern, Production Coordinator, and is returning for her second year as the Coordinating Producer. She handles all operations and logistics for the film festival.
Bradley Williams Print Traffic Manager
Bradley Williams was born and raised in Takoma Park, Maryland. After leaving the Sports Management Industry he transitioned into TV/Film Production which he has been apart of for the past five years. Since his transition he has worked on Films such as “The Purge 3″ and was an actor and a creative on a movie called ” American Milkshake”. Bradley has worked on over 100 TV shows as a Production Coordinator, Field Coordinator, Production Assistant, Media Manager, and Media Logger, just to name a few positions. Bradley is an aspiring writer and filmmaker who hopes to one year have his first film featured in the amazing Annapolis Film Festival. This year he is excited about making his debut as the Print Traffic Coordinator for the festival.
Chris Edwards – Resource Development Coordinator
Originally from Connecticut, Chris now calls Annapolis home. She holds a BA in French literature and international relations from Bucknell University and an MS.Ed in educational administration from Old Domination University. Following a career as a Naval officer, she worked as a human capital and strategic communications consultant providing support to Department of Defense clients. As a volunteer, she has held various leadership positions within the Digital Photography Club of Annapolis and served on the film committee of the Peer Learning Partnership at Anne Arundel Community College. She is delighted to be part of the team bringing the Annapolis Film Festival to fruition this year.
Tori Markham – Festival Manager
Tori lives in Baltimore, MD where she splits her time between working film festivals and freelancing in the film, television, and commercial industry. She started as an intern for Maryland Film Festival after graduating from Towson University with a bachelor’s degree in Electronic Media & Film. She quickly fell in love with the supportive and inclusive environment that film festivals promote. Since she has worked for Mill Valley Film Festival and Sundance Film Festival where she manages logistics and operations. This will be Tori’s second year with Annapolis Film Festival and her first year as the Festival Manager.
