Kathleen Caprario-Ulrich traded the concrete canyons of New York City for love…and the broad skies of the Pacific Northwest where she has established herself as an award-winning visual artist, writer, and educator.
Caprario-Ulrich is a 2022 FilmLab Comedy Cohort participant and the recipient of the an Oregon Arts Commission Individual Artist Fellowship, a Jordan Schnitzer Black Lives Matter Artist Grant, and the Modesto Lanzone Mostra Award. She has attended numerous artist residences including Djerassi, Ucross, the Playa Foundation, and the Morris Graves’ Foundation. Her international experiences include the ARIS Residency Program, Hakone, Japan and working with Aboriginal children in Central Australia under the auspices of Victoria University’s S.W.I.R.L Program (Story Writing In Remote Locations).
Her scripts have won and placed, including the 2022 Writers Advice Scintillating Starts Competition, 2021 Kay Snow Script Competition, the Garden State Film Festival Short Script Competition, The California Women’s Film Festival Short Script Competition, and the Lady Filmmakers Film Festival. She wrote, produced, and presented her dark comedy, “Mourning After” as part of the Non-Juried Short Film Corner at the 67th Cannes Film Festival, France.
