Director's Statement

I created “Contain” to spread the arts in a barren time and to give dancers safe, CDC-compliant, and meaningful work in a reality where their livelihood was put indefinitely on hold. I wanted to create something honest, and the pandemic was currently at the front of everyone’s minds. Based on my own experiences and the personal accounts of others, I created this thirty minute work to demonstrate how the effects of the pandemic could feel personally, socially, in intimate relationships, and as a community. It is my hope that “Contain” can allow viewers to understand and heal from their experiences that they may not have fully understood before watching.

Director's Bio

Dani’s dance studies began at the age of three when she started taking lessons at Long’s School of Dance in Erie, Pennsylvania. Maloney’s passions translated into her college career at Shenandoah Conservatory where she received her Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in dance and choreography in December 2017. Along with her training, Dani created a group titled DMD (Dani Maloney and Dancers) that she would later turn into a Nonprofit Dance Collective in the year 2020. The collective is based out of Las Vegas, and produces work for live performance and film. She has received multiple awards and honors for her work as a director and choreographer with her company for her dance films “Contain”, “The Time Being”, “I”, and more. She has choreographed for various shows including “Cirque Du Giselle”, an Aerial and Dance Play for the Hollywood Fringe Festival, set work on different performance groups, and has taught masterclasses and workshops across the United States. Maloney has performed with various professional performance companies working as a dancer, singer, actress, acrobat, contortionist, and aerialist. She has been seen with the LA Philharmonic in Barry Edelstein’s production of “The Tempest” by William Shakespeare, performing specialty and dance around the United States with production companies such as TMU Events, Interlaced Productions, and Belluscious, and touring as a company member with DIAVOLO | Architecture in Motion. Maloney is currently based in Las Vegas where she performs in various corporate events and teaches at Millennium Dance Complex. Prior to COVID-19, she was performing regularly as a dancer/aerialist in Cherry Boom Boom, a show created in Los Angeles by one of the original Pussy Cat Dolls and performing under BEST Agency. Dani is a certified 200 hour yoga instructor with the Yoga Alliance, with additional training certifications as an Ayurvedic Specialist, in Yin Yoga, Chair Yoga and Restorative Yoga. Dani is represented by Go 2 Talent Agency.
