Director's Statement
I wrote this short story about a depressed young woman avoiding the mess in her kitchen as a depressed young woman avoiding the mess in my kitchen. Constantly feeling trapped in my day job and not making the effort to change my circumstances let alone taking out the trash in my kitchen, I developed a bit of a fly problem that I will always describe as less awful than it really was (it was bad) to my friends. Waking me up out of my stupor, I stopped sulking and got off the couch to kill the flies and clean my entire apartment.
While this film is a campy and silly one, and my aim is to ultimately entertain and make audiences laugh, I hope that others can identify with the main character’s mental state and feelings of helplessness and lack of control in her life, and be inspired when she finally decides to face the monster… in this case a giant cockroach.
