Journey For Justice
Synopsis: Journey for Justice follows the extraordinary journey of Vasilisa Komarova, who set off from Argentina in 2016 bound for Alaska in pursuit of a lifelong dream: motorcycling off-road across the Americas.
Two years later, disaster struck. While camping in Bolivia in June 2017, Komarova was sexually assaulted. After the attack, Komarova stayed for over a year in Bolivia to ensure that her assailants were put behind bars. During that time, she experienced firsthand the corruption and failings of a legal system that does little to protect survivors of sexual assault nor carry out justice for them, a situation that’s emblematic of the difficulties women worldwide face when seeking prosecution of sex crimes.
Thanks to Komarova’s dogged efforts, in June 2018 her perpetrators were sentenced to a combined 42 years in jail, a feat that was nothing short of miraculous. Then, Komarova continued on her journey.
Ultimately, “Justice Ride” is a story about pursuing one’s dreams despite unthinkable odds. It’s about how one woman’s dream morphs into something bigger than herself and in the process brings about social justice, spurs systemic change, and inspires women worldwide. But at the heart of it, this film is about the indomitability of the human spirit.
