Director's Bio
Balthazar Klarwein is a French/American Spanish-born filmmaker from Majorca. He has worked as an editor, cinematographer and director in music videos, documentaries, commercials and fashion films as well as video-art. His experience in the film and video industry has been extremely eclectic, from his early years creating DIY skateboarding films in Barcelona to working for celebrated avant-garde filmmakers such as Albert Serra or celebrity photographers like Mario Testino, his career has been followed by a contrast between directing high-end commercials and self-produced experimental films. Much of this duality is expressed in his body of work as he often feels surrounded by a world of paradoxes, contrasts and ambiguities. ”Yo, Diablo” is his first narrative based fictional short film.
