Synopsis: We Are The Wild Horses (USA)

Directed by: William E. Simpson II & Michelle Gough
03:52 mins

A Music Video about a poet’s odyssey of discovering wild horses.
This was a challenging shoot…
It required many elements and skill sets by a small team of two director-producers (William E. Simpson II & Michelle Gough) who wore many hats on set including: key grip assignments, combined-coordinated filming using 2-cameras and a drone, and managing sound on the set. Added to which was providing location design as the environment changed, and finally, providing expertise in wild horse behavior for getting the shots needed and safety of the talent (Ginalina).
Filming in the wilderness presents many interesting opportunities, each of which comes with an obstacle that needs to be addressed.
Getting the needed B-Roll in the can on a timeline under ideal conditions is never easy. Add to that is the ever-changing conditions of weather and lighting in a wilderness environment.
Mountains make their own weather; one minute it can be sunny and calm, and the next clouds can form and winds can come out of nowhere, which are especially problematic for coordinated drone shots.
Filming wildlife as many photographers know also presents difficulties especially when combined with people, and in this case, a musician performing a song.
We are honored to present this music video and pray it furthers the emotional connection to our American wild horses.
