Director's Statement
Growing up in The Dominican Republic I wanted to portray the multicultural and sometimes hedonistic journey the local athletes of Cabarete embark, as they delve in La Dolce Vita while heading towards greatness, or perdition. Adeuri Corniel, who stars in “Cabarete”, is a genuine teenage kitesurfer from Cabarete who went on to become Champion of the world after filming ended. He is the true embodiment of what the story is about.
Director's Bio
Ivan Bordas was born in January 1986, in The Dominican Republic, where he started writing and directing commercials, shorts, and documentaries. He is known for directing “A Good Friend” (2008) and “The Beach” (2013). In 2016 he received a Master’s of Fine Arts degree in Film and Television Production from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles.
