Synopsis: Let The Children Come To Me is an experimental rotoscoped animation of the Estonian song – Mu Mano Tulge Latse performed by OLGA Vocal Ensemble, Netherlands. The rotoscoped animation is a combination of A.I. techniques and digital painting which is synchronized with OLGA’s masterful vocals. The Estonian lyrics are reinforced with powerful imagery to help transcend the audience to a more contemplative interpretation of the piece.

Director's Statement

This experimental rotoscoped animation is a portrayal of the Estonian folk song Mu Mano Tulge Latse, recorded by OLGA Vocal Ensemble, Netherlands. This beautiful A cappella rendition can be found on their newest album, Aurora.

“Aurora is a reminder that our nearness is greater than our distance. Illumination in darkness, glimmering harmony, dancing voices. The darker the world becomes, the clearer we see Aurora.”

– OLGA Vocal Ensemble, 2021

Through a compendium of visceral, interdisciplinary and time-based means, my experimental work attempts to embrace the empathy, emotion and memory of the human condition. Time and image transition into a new visual context, taunting, and testing them to offer a deeper, more poetic examination of self.

History and memory are frequently called to question as the variable of changing moments repeatedly transitions. Regardless of subject or situation, what is certain is the pursuit of a more complex, emotional awareness that is experientially human. This collaboration between OLGA Vocal Ensemble, Netherlands and my studio practice allows for the continuum of this exploratory work to expand and thrive.
