Director's Statement
Our struggles are not about how we cope, they are about what it is we’re coping with!
We all have some sort of trauma and unless we face it, we can never get in front of it.
We spend so much time listening to the negative thoughts in our heads that keep us down and do not serve us. The Good Voices reminds us that those positive thoughts are also always there and can help us out when we let them.
Thank you from all of us at Of Substance, where we’re turning movies into an approachable and captivating tool for healing, growth, and behavioral change.
Director's Bio
Brian went to rehab on his 18th birthday. His experience there sent him on a life-long quest to understand human struggle as deeply as possible. He went on to study peer counseling and team building, eventually receiving a Master’s degree in Social Work and teaching at Temple University while also running a violence-prevention program for teenage boys in Philadelphia.
In 2006, Brian decided he wanted to become an actor and for over a decade he has been acting, writing, directing, and producing full-time.
While collaborating with Alex on a short film in 2017, they learned about their shared history with addiction and soon discovered that a greater purpose was being laid out in front of them – to combine their unique set of skills and hard-won wisdom to help make addicts and their loved ones feel more connected, understood, and supported through the power of film.
Today, Brian is the Co-founder of Of Substance, an innovative non-profit revolutionizing addiction and mental health treatment, education, and support, using premium entertaining short films as a tool for deeper healing, growth, and transformation.
