Synopsis: Children, adults and veterans who were put in the “no hope” box because of injuries, disabilities, PTSD or other challenges find hope and healing at ROCK (Ride On Center for Kids), an Equine-Assisted Therapy center in central Texas. Through the healing motion of riding and connecting with horses ROCK participants improve life skills, gain independence and find purpose to “move their feet” to become the leaders of their own lives. Currently in post-production, “Where the Horses Heal the Soul,” shares inspirational stories of the healing power of therapy horses and how the motion of riding and the connection to the horse are life changing. Veterans with combat related injuries and PTSD who have struggled to find their place and purpose are empowered to live up to their full potential after connecting with horses. ROCK participants improve life skills, gain independence and find purpose to “move their feet” to become the leaders of their own lives.
Director's Bio
Twila LaBar is a filmmaker, director and songwriter. LaBar made her narrative film directorial debut in the independent narrative film, “Blanche,” filmed on location in Marfa, Alpine and Fort Davis, Texas. Her latest film, “Where the Horses Heal the Soul,” is an inspirational documentary about how horses and Equine-Assisted therapy helps transform the lives of children, adults and veterans with physical, cognitive and emotional challenges.
LaBar is an award winning songwriter. Her extensive background in songwriting and music production made transitioning into filmmaking a natural next step
